On August 26, 2026, a landslide near the Nepal-China border triggered a catastrophic flash flood affecting northern Nepal. The disaster has caused widespread loss of life and destruction, with hundreds reported dead and many more still missing. Extensive damage to roads, bridges, power infrastructure and essential services has left many communities isolated and significantly complicated relief efforts. The full scale of humanitarian needs is still emerging.
International Medical Corps is responding through a network of trusted local partners already operating in the affected areas. Though access remains extremely challenging and assessments are continuing, we will support their efforts to provide essential health services for affected populations, both in displacement shelters and in impacted communities. We also anticipate supporting the distribution of critical relief supplies to help families meet their most urgent needs.
We are working closely with local partners and authorities to monitor evolving needs and will adapt our response accordingly over the coming weeks to ensure that assistance reaches the communities most affected by the disaster.
