This project is designed to help 300 petty traders in Lagos, Nigeria, whose livelihoods has been disrupted by the COVID19 outbreak and are faced with undue hardship, to restart their businesses and protect their families from COVID19 pandemic.
Poor families headed by petty traders in local communities are most affected by the COVID19 pandemic in Lagos. With their livelihoods disrupted, they lack the resources to feed, and the capital to "Restart" their businesses with which they can protect their families. COVID19 is now at the dreaded "Community Spread" level at a ravaging speed; a situation to which target families will struggle to adapt or protect themselves against, which could create a negative social impact on the larger society
In a bid to stem the impact of COVID19 on target families and individuals, this project will help 300 most affected petty traders with funds to restart their businesses with the support of donors. With this, they can provide food for their children, protect their loved ones and reduce their vulnerabilities to COVID19. This project will also provide sensitization support in local languages for less educated members of the communities, to aid the comprehension and application of prevention tips.
In the long term, this project will support 1000 people whose livelihoods has been disrupted by COVID19 to restart. Some in local production of hand sanitizers with which they can protect their families, earn income and contribute to the global actions against COVID19. We hope that through this project, alongside related initiatives, we can jump-start the virus by reaching target communities and families first, equip them with needed resources, and stop COVID19 from spreading into their homes.
