Dear Supporter,
Development Alert is committed to restoring 3,500 hectares of degraded shoreline along Lake Victoria, one of Africa’s most vital freshwater ecosystems. The lake supports millions of people through fishing, agriculture, and water supply, yet increasing environmental degradation has placed both livelihoods and biodiversity at risk.
Our restoration initiative focuses on rehabilitating critical shoreline areas through tree planting, wetland regeneration, and community-led conservation practices. By working closely with local communities, we aim to rebuild natural buffers that protect the lake from erosion, pollution, and the impacts of climate change.
Key Impact Highlights
This initiative will not only restore fragile ecosystems but also support sustainable livelihoods for communities that depend on Lake Victoria. Healthier shorelines mean more stable fisheries, improved agricultural productivity, and reduced vulnerability to climate-related shocks.
We recognize that lasting impact requires collaboration. Development Alert continues to engage partners, stakeholders, and local leaders to ensure long-term sustainability of these restoration efforts.
Together, we can protect Lake Victoria, restore its shores, and secure a healthier future for generations to come.
