Arise Uganda HIV Network plans to support 100 HIV positive and school dropout rural adolescent girls and young women 10-24 years in marketable vocational skills training in Tailoring, Hairdressing, Bakery and Business skills from Najjembe, Kawolo and Lugazi Central Divisions in Buikwe District in Uganda. This will be done by attaching them to vocational training institutions and local Artisans.
Critical factors such as HIV/AIDS, early sex debut, school dropout cases, early and forced marriages, teenage pregnancies and poverty have set many adolescent girls and young women in Uganda lose their lives, contract HIV, face gender based violence as well as stigma and discrimination imposed on them. Arise Uganda HIV Network will support them with vocational skills as a strategy for preventing them from contracting HIV new infections,preventing early and forced marriages& poverty eradication
AUHN will support HIV positive and school dropout adolescent girls and young women in rural Uganda with marketable vocational skills. The training skills includes learning sewing skills, hair care and treatment skills,perming,setting,styling and saloon duties, making cakes, cookies and other confectioneries as well as Business skills. By supporting them with these skills, it will help them to live a positive life, raising them out of poverty, reducing teenage pregnancies &gender based violence.
The project will support and equip 100 HIV positive and school dropout rural adolescent girls and young women to acquire skills to improve on their knowledge, health and well-being through earning income as well as providing for their families, siblings and contribute to their community's economy hence seeing reduced poverty, early and forced marriages, teenage pregnancies, HIV new infections and gender based violence.
