Naini can see colors of life

By Shabana Shahzad | Communications Lead -LRBT

Naini, a 30 year old, frail woman, is a housewife from Chachro , a small village near Tharparkar. She belongs to the rural area where women are no priority even in case of a medical emergency. They are the last one in line for anything and everything . She belongs to a family of 7 where her husband and her brother in law are the only bread winners for a large family.

Seeing the lack of resources and her young children being deprived of even the bare necessities she wanted to earn so she could contribute to family finances. In addition to the usual house chores she started sewing clothes for the landlord's wives and families.
A few years ago her eyesight started deteriorating but as a woman, she had the last call on the family resources. Untreated, her condition worsened, while the rest of her family went on with their own lives; discommoded only by the fact that she could not take care of household chores or contribute to the family income. Every day was a struggle from morning till dusk. She would have died an early death,as most poor blind people do. She was at verge of nervous breakdown and questioning her existence every day when a miracle happened.A medical camp was setup in teh vicinity and all neighborhood went for free health checkup .It was then a representative guided her to LRBT and its free eye care services for the poor.

She underwent sight restoration surgery for free at Tando Bago . Vision restored, Naini is back in life and more energized and thankful as she experienced life otherwise. She is back to seing lcothes and look after her family.

Thank you for empowering her in her small world and gifting her blessing of sight.

Her life is back to colors and the darkness has ended.
