Samina 27 year old resident of a slum area of Karachi belongs to a fairly large family comprising of her old parents,5 sisters and 2 brothers. Her father was a cardiac patient so had to give up on his work few years back that made Samina to become the earning member of the family along with her brother.
Belonging to an underprivileged family already brought set of struggles but her father sudden deteriorating health subjected her to take her wise and bold decisions ,main being to start earning for the family.Luckily her favourite passtime became her family and her life saviour. Samina had do e a short beautician course from a small neighborhood salon and was something she never thought could be her turning point. She applied at the same salon and luckily got a job for basic salon tasks. Her family was over the moon that God has saved them from going homeless and didnt deprive them of other basic needs. Few months had passed and due to her hardwork she learnt many attributes which enhanced her salary but Life's ordeal hadn't ended.
Samina started facing trouble in focussing on objects and heroer line of work couldn't afford this. Not only that she started facing difficulty in daily routine tasks also .Samina was totally shattered as to what was happening to her and more so what will become of her family if she turned blind, her worst fear. She hated herself becoming another burden on the already devastated family. The situation became out of control when her clients started complaining to the owner she advised her to get her eyes checked at LRBT Korangi. Thankfully she was given off and was told about LRBT free services
Since the pain was was also increasing with passing time and the blurring of vision was causing a threat to her to continue her work so immediately she asked her brother to accomoanyvher to LRBT. She was astonished to see the amount of people flocking the blocks of the hospital .A staff guided her to the process and was shown the way to registration. After going through all the protocol and examination she was diagnosed with cataract and advised earliest surgery. Thinking only checkup was free she hesitantly asked for the costs involved and was even more surprised to know the procedure and medicines were free for poor.
In disbelief she took her slip and was advised a date for surgery. Her cataract surgery was carried out successfully on the given date and Sami a couldnt belief that everything had worked so well and smoothly.
Today Samina is back to her salon with even more energy and high spirits and plan s to take loan and start a small setup of her own.
She believes that her new life is all due to LRBT and it's kind donors and owes it all to them. She sent her good wishes to the do ors, staff and management of LRBT for being the only bacon of hope for individuals like her.
