The Emergency Livelihood response program seeks to assist a total of 2000 food insure households in conflict and non-conflict affected areas of western Uganda with support of livelihood inputs intervention for crop seeds,vegetable seeds,agricultural tools,fishing gears,bee keeping kits as well as inputs for the treatment and vaccination of Livestock. The procurement process for these inputs is closely linked to seasonality and origin of production.The livelihoods inputs will regain resilience.
As per integrated food security phase classification(IPC) Outlook for the first quarter of 2019.The food security situation in western Uganda is expected to worsen dramatically and there is an urgent need for emergency livelihood intervention for the households through provision of agricultural inputs like crop seeds,Vegetable seeds,agricultural tools,fishing gears,bee keeping kits and Livestock vaccines and drugs, to avoid hunger,malnutrition and destitution over the next months.
This project will assist 2000 households to do farming: The project will hire an agronomist and other personnel's for smooth implementation of the project for 6 months to train the households on vegetable gardening for sales purpose, Purchase crop seeds, agricultural tools, vegetable seeds, Purchase for them bee keeping kits and fishing gears, Purchase Livestock Vaccines and veterinary drugs for the agro pastoral communities to improve on their livelihoods in western Uganda.
