On January 2020, there was an explosion due to a gas leak from a tanker located in Villa El Salvador in Peru, 2 people died at the scene and 48 people were evacuated in total out of which 11 survived. Unfortunately they arrived at ANIQUEM in a critical mental and physical state as many of them lost direct relatives. Currently in ANIQUEM we offer them intensive physical and emotional rehabilitation treatment, we are currently seeing partial results of improvement and we need to continue that.
The tragic event occurred in a community with limited economic resources. Some homes were multi-family homes where the majority of survivors have lost loved ones such as parents, their own children and their personal belongings. This group of people received many promises of help at the time, but unfortunately those promises have not been fulfilled. ANIQUEM has been assisting these survivors and we want to continue supporting them because the treatment is extensive.
To complete the comprehensive rehabilitation process by providing them with facilities for the transfer from their homes, medical care from a physiatrist, a psychiatrist, and also physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychological support, social help and lastly to provide pressure garments which will help to remodel the scars and the burn injuries, with the purpose of full recovery and to achieve their reintegration into society.
The project will help 4 burn survivors, two children and two adults, in order to strengthen them physically and emotionally so that they can rebuild their family lives, which will provide health and well-being, which will in turn make them be able to be socially included without being discriminated against and be able to live a normal life, Your Support will save a life!
