Challenge

After decades of implementing the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education program in the Northern Region, studies have established that improvements in enrollment, retention and completion of school going age children have been in favor of boys. These have not significantly impacted on the education of the girl-child.Several factors account for this and include factors in the school and community, social/religious factors Due to illiteracy many girls end up in early marriage and poverty.

Solution

The project will hold Community sensitization/education sessions targeting parents and whole community to promote child rights in education. Will engage Ghana Education services , District assembly in equitable supply of educational resources. It will influence District Assembly/Ghana Education Service Building plans to be People with disability friendly. It will also Inform /educate /empower girls to assert rights. And Support children with disability to assert rights.

Long-Term Impact

The project will cause increased enrollment, retention and completion of 120 girls allowing them to assert their rights, become competitive in the job market and provide for their families' basic needs .
