Summary

In Taiwan, Indigenous people leave their communities for opportunity, weakening their cultural heritage. Our project empowers both adults and youth to return home and build sustainable lives through natural farming and business training. By establishing egg and mushroom farms, they'll create income and jobs, revitalise traditions, and strengthen their communities. Aligning with the SDGs, this project offers a brighter future for Indigenous communities and Taiwan.

Challenge

Indigenous communities in Taiwan face a complex challenge: limited job opportunities and cultural erosion. People, particularly the young adults leave for better prospects in urban areas, weakening communities and causing a generational gap. Elders lose their cultural heritage and traditions. Without sustainable livelihoods, people feel compelled to leave, creating a vicious cycle of poverty and cultural decline.

Solution

This program provides two-year training in natural farming, business development, and life skills to equip participants with the knowledge and resources needed to succeed back home. The program supports two types of participants: Adult farmers: Experienced farmers who want to share their knowledge and skills with the next generation. Youth farmers: Young people who want to return to their home communities and pursue a career in agriculture.

Long-Term Impact

Economic: Creates jobs and generates income in Indigenous communities, reducing economic hardship for families. Social: Strengthens families and communities by providing opportunities for parents to return home and be with their children. Cultural: Promotes cultural revitalization by supporting the transmission of Indigenous culture and traditions within families and communities.
