This project will reduce the absenteeism and dropout of girls in rural secondary schools during menstrual days in Manicaland,Zimbabwe. The project involves sewing reusable sanitary pads for 3900 girls and poor women, all the 3900 will get four(4) sanitary pads each meaning that we will make a total of 15,600 sanitary pads with the grant applied for
Period Poverty is everywhere. Right here in Manicaland there are many students who don't have access to necessary menstrual hygiene supplies. HOPE for KIDS is working to change that through reusable pads that can provide students with dignity and protection for 24+ months, the situation is worsened in Manicaland through the cyclone IDAI which recently ravaged Manicaland. HOPE for KIDS' driving principle is the conviction that health, education,and dignity are fundamental rights of all children
As Hope for KIDS we will be sewing and distributing sanitary wear to the women and girls in rural parts of Chimanimani. Our objective will be to avail cheaper sanitary wear which are easy to produce and use, one can wash them and use continually whilst they are meant to last for many months. A simple solution that has proven to have an enormously positive impact on the lives of Zimbabwean girls and women. The women and girls in rural parts of Chimanimani are direct beneficiaries
Not only do reusable sanitary pads allow girls to attend school and women to continue to work during their period, the pads also empower them financially. We train women to produce them, and subsequently help them set up small businesses to Student Comfort Pads to the local population. In this way, we are actively helping Zimbabwe women and girls to complete their education or keep their jobs, and to become independent businesswomen in the process-this model goes on sustainably in the long run
