Axenon Ikanwe continues to be a major success on the airwaves in Shipibo-Konibo country! Over the past three months we have attracted the attention of multiple Peruvian agencies associated with education and culture, as well as Brazil who want to learn from our experience.
The National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute of Brazil (IPHAN) and the University of Brasilia are hosting the 2nd International Conference on Revitalization of Indigenous and Minoritized Languages, October 1st-4th in Brasilia, Brazil. To complement this conference, there will also be the 1st International Meething on Indigenous Language Diversity: exchange of experiences and safeguard strategies, from the 5th-6th.
Program director Inin Yoi along with his wife and co-host Metsa Jisbe have been formally invited, with all expenses covered, to share their inspiring success with the radio program Axenon Ikanwe! It is wonderful to see that they will have an opportunity to share their experiences on this international stage with advocates of other Indigenous Amazonian languages.
As an independent radio program, we depend upon the generosity of others to make this possible. Axenon Ikanwe has provided an important service to the living Shipibo-Konibo language thanks to people like you. Please consider making a small donation today or sign up to make a recurring monthly donation to keep this program on the air.
You can always follow our program −and participate!− Monday-Friday 8pm-9pm (Currently 8pm Central Time for the USA) through the Axenon Ikanwe facebook page.
Ichabires iráke ‘thank you very much’ to all those who have supported us and those who continue to do so with your recurring donations!
Axenon Ikanwe! ‘We learn together!’
