The support given to us through GlobalGiving during these last three years has been one of the pillars that enabled the radio show Axenon Ikanwe (“Learning together” in Shipibo-konibo) in its beginnings. For this, ARIAP (Indigenous Amazon Roots of Peru), indigenous ONG responsible for the project, is enormously thankful.
Our radio show has evolved in several ways, and has amassed a daily audience of around 20, 000 daily listeners. We are pleased to know that we are taking part in the promotion and defense of linguistic rights of the Shipibo-Konibo people through the exercise of the right to information and expression, which ultimately derive in better chances of exercising other fundamental rights.
Currently we are able to finance our work thanks to direct donations, coming both from individuals and NGOs like Amazon Watch and Rainforest. We have also started to prepare proposals in order to apply to grants provided by international cooperation. Besides, we are employing new financial strategies such as advertising reports, and taking into account others forms of paid publicity.
Thus, the time has come to say goodbye, at least for now. Expressing our deep thankfulness, we announce the closing of this campaign on October 15th. For the brief period left, we are launching this campaign oriented to the funding of our future and immediate ambitions to further our range of audiovisual techniques: 01 4K camera (US$ 1,000.00), 01 boom microphone (US$ 300.00) and 01 regular microphone (US$ 100.00).
