Revive 3 Abandoned Boreholes with Solar Power

Dear respected donors,

This project was launched to bring back to life three abandoned boreholes in Ogodo village by installing solar-powered pumping systems. The goal is to restore safe and reliable water access for the entire community, which has been struggling without these vital water points.

Ogodo village is currently facing serious hardship due to the absence of clean water. Families are forced to rely on rainwater, streams, and other unsafe sources. This has led to frequent cases of diarrhea among children, making the situation more urgent and highlighting the need to act quickly.

We have received generous donations from kind supporters who believe in this mission. We are sincerely grateful for every contribution, as each one brings us closer to starting work on the boreholes.

At present, the funds raised are not yet enough to begin the rehabilitation process. However, we remain hopeful that with continued support, we will secure what is needed to prepare the sites, install solar systems, and restore water to Ogodo.

Dear Donors,

We want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported this project so far, no matter how small the contribution. It gives us hope and we're really grateful. However, during our recent visit to the communities, what we found was deeply worrying.

The water scarcity situation has gone from bad to worse. With the three boreholes still abandoned, residents have no choice but to depend on a nearby river. This is not just any river. It is a flowing river that looks clean on the surface, which makes people believe it is safe. Many of the residents told us that because the river flows, it "does not hold dirt" and therefore should be okay to use. Sadly, this is far from the truth.

Women and children now trek long distances daily to reach this river. Once there, they wash their clothes inside the same water, they swim inside it, they bathe inside it and they also fetch water from that same place to drink and cook. It is heartbreaking to see children playing in the same section where another family is washing clothes and just a few steps away, someone else is filling a container for drinking water. Many of them do not realize this habit is silently affecting their health.

As a result, diseases (typhoid, diarrhoea) and skin infections are common among children, elderly people and women. Several families told us they are always spending money on drugs and sometimes even resorting to herbs when hospitals are not an option. School-age children are also missing classes or going late to school because of the time it takes to fetch water. Some girls are completely out of school for now because they have to help at home with water collection.

We want to remind you that this project is not just about water. It is about life, education and saving people from daily stress and suffering. The boreholes we want to restore are already there. The only thing stopping us is the lack of funding to convert them to solar-powered systems. Once that is done, water will be available again without fuel or high maintenance worries. This will change everything for over 3,500 people.

We are sincerely grateful to the one donor who has given so far. Your kindness has encouraged us to keep pushing. But we still need help. We are calling on the wider community of supporters.
