Restore 3 Boreholes in Ogodo with Solar Power

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Donors,

Thank you for supporting this project to revive three abandoned boreholes in Ogodo, Ankpa LGA, Kogi State. Your support will bring reliable, clean water to over 3,500 residents by replacing broken generators with solar-powered systems, ensuring long-term access to safe water.

The community currently struggles without functional boreholes, relying on unsafe water sources that increase the risk of disease. Women and children spend hours each day fetching water from distant locations, limiting time for school, work, and other essential activities. The abandoned boreholes also place unnecessary strain on families and hinder economic development.

This project will rehabilitate the three boreholes by installing solar-powered pumps, replacing worn pipes, and re-drilling to remove debris. Solar energy provides a sustainable, low-maintenance solution, eliminating reliance on fuel and costly generators. Additional water storage tanks will be installed to ensure adequate supply throughout the year.

Long term, access to clean water will reduce waterborne illnesses, save families hours of daily labor, and free women and children to pursue education and productive work. The eco-friendly solar systems will lower maintenance costs and carbon emissions, creating a lasting, sustainable resource that strengthens public health and community well-being for years to come.

At this stage, donations are limited, but with your continued support, we can restore these boreholes and transform water access in Ogodo.

With thanks,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
