We would like to thank those of you who have already donated towards this project to get it off the ground. While there is still a long way to go to reach our goal of a fully prepared piece of land to accommodate the rhinos at HESC, we have made a start.
Ground clearing was first on the list because the area was not accessible by vehicle - and bushes and trees were completely overgrown. Which meant no other work could begin until this was sorted out. Thankfully, we were able to hire more staff, purchase extra equipment, and begin the task of cutting down the overgrown bushes and trees - clearing the way for the next steps in this process of land preparation.
What are the next steps? To repair the damaged roads and fences - and upgrade the security system.
If you would like to donate towards the completion of this project, please consider doing so on July Bonus Day, taking place from July 15, 2026, at 10:00:00 EDT (4 pm SA time) to July 16, 2026, at 10:00:00 EDT. (4 pm SA time). Donations from $100 and upwards will be eligible to receive a portion of the $150 000 in incentive funds which will be made available on the day.
