Feeeling Hopeless During Covid19 Pandemic

Dear partners and friends,

When the government of Zimbabwe announced a new school calendar for 2021 which was already delayed starting in March, there was a sense of renewed hope for children to go back to school. They enjoyed coming back together, meeting their friends and renewing their dreams again through attending lessons under the out of school program. The first term which started from March and ended in June was finally completed but with the  Covid19 3rd wave already threatening closure of schools. The 2nd term which was due to open beginning of July remained a pipe dream as Covid19 wrecked havoc in all the 10 provinces of Zimbabwe. All the hope to go back  to school was taken and children are faced with a lot of challenges. Children out of  school are faced with pyschosocial challenges as a result of seeing sick parents, dieing relatives as a result of Covid19, hunger and abuse.  They also miss their friends, hot meals and learning.

There is a lot that needs to be repaired in their lives. They had hoped that through the out of school program their lost opportunity to education would be revived and achieve their dreams. With the continued lockdowns, feelings of hopelessness are now taking a grip.

However, we want to thank you so much for your resolute support as you continued to donate during these hard times. We need the funds to prepare for schools re-opening and purchase enough sanitizers, desks, masks, water buckets, cleaning detergents and food. Kindly share our story with your colleagues and encourage them to support us. We will keep sharing updates to keep you updated on the progress of the project.

Thank you
