After 7 years of experience SSB and its project Right to sport. Homelessmess&Refugees are consolidating themselves as a space for football practice for people at risk of social exclusion of reference in the city of Barcelona.
The derivations are added weekly, while the social entities continue to recognize the need to provide spaces like ours. In 2024, 243 people passed, who said they did not have a place to practice sports.
The need to maintain a safe space for football practice goes beyond the "simple game of the ball". People need, especially in times of crisis, meeting spaces where they can find friendship, community, exchange of knowledge and language and where they can maintain a balance between physical health and mental health.
In total we have organized 248 activities, including training, matches, talks, workshops and training.
3 boys linked to the project have been able to follow the training of assistant coach (2) and referee (1) to be able to train and referee matches in the league of the Consejo Escolar del Deporte de Barcelona.
The project continues to be a referent of football for development in Barcelona and we continue to need support from companies, public funding and projects such as GlobalGiving.
In fact, we would like to be able to reach more companies, who can give their support by participating in inclusive football tournaments. Friendly matches for nice people.
Likewise, with the rise of women's football in Spain, we are in favor of organizing mixed football activities.
Recently the Catalan television TV3 has taken an interest in us and we have appeared in the news. At the same time, we are launching a campaign to increase our community of partners and for this we have launched a new T-shirt together with Top Manta, Barcelona's leading charity clothing store.
For this year we continue to maintain the weekly training spaces, 2 football teams (1 female 1 male) in the school league, 1 sports camp of 4 days and the possibility of 4 formative scholarships (assistants, coaches and referees).
