Project Report | Nov 1, 2026
Thank you and an Update

By Suranjani Wickremeratne | President

Dear Donor,

We hope this message finds you well.

On behalf of Tarana Foundation, we extend our sincere gratitude for your generous support of our Rising Above Floods: Protecting Education Project. Your contribution continues to help vulnerable children and communities overcome challenges and access opportunities for a brighter future.

We are pleased to share an update on the progress made possible through your support.

One of the significant initiatives supported through this project was the successful completion of a Computer Laboratory Project at Wawahamaduwa Wanigasekera Maha Vidyalaya in the Matara District. The project helped bridge a funding shortfall and enabled the school to establish a much-needed computer laboratory, providing students with valuable access to practical ICT education.

We were honoured that the project's principal initiator and donor attended the official handover ceremony, witnessing firsthand the enthusiasm and appreciation of the students, teachers, and school community. Encouraged by the positive impact of the project, a further commitment was made to provide six additional computers to enhance the laboratory and expand access to digital learning opportunities for students.

We are also delighted to share another major development. Through this project, a commitment has been made to contribute Rs. 4 million towards Tarana Foundation's flagship Rural Schools Project scheduled in Nuwara Eliya District at the end of November.

This large-scale educational initiative will support nearly 3,000 rural students from 32 remote schools, primarily serving children from estate-sector communities and economically disadvantaged families. The total project cost is estimated at approximately Rs. 12 million, and the funds pledged through the Rising Above Floods: Protecting Education Project will play a vital role in helping us achieve this goal.

The project will provide essential school supplies required for the new academic year, including school bags, stationery, books, mathematical instruments, water bottles, lunch boxes, and other educational necessities. For many families facing economic hardships, these supplies represent much more than school materials. They provide children with the opportunity to continue their education with confidence, dignity, and hope for a better future.

These achievements demonstrate how your support is creating lasting and meaningful change. From strengthening digital learning opportunities in rural schools to helping thousands of children access essential educational resources, your generosity is making a direct and measurable impact on the lives of young learners across Sri Lanka.

As we continue to expand our efforts to support vulnerable communities and protect children's access to education, we remain deeply grateful for your trust, partnership, and commitment to our mission.

Together, we are helping children rise above challenges and build brighter futures through education.

With sincere gratitude,

Tarana Foundation
