Introduction This quarter has been a period of growth, outreach, and community impact for the Grand Bahama Resilience Center (GBRC). Through our diverse programs and collaborative initiatives, we have continued to support individuals and families, fostering resilience and holistic wellness in our community.

Special Initiatives and Events
Thanksgiving Miracle - Feeding 10,000 (November 28, 2024)
GBRC proudly partnered with the Thanksgiving Miracle - Feed 10,000 initiative, bringing together multiple organizations and volunteers to provide warm meals and hope to thousands in need. This act of kindness and collective effort reinforced our mission of fostering resilience through compassion and service.
Knowledge Matters: HIV Awareness Seminar (December 2, 2024)
In collaboration with the HIV Survivors Benefit Grand Bahama, GBRC hosted an HIV awareness seminar aimed at educating the public on prevention, treatment, and the importance of testing. With a focus on the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets for 2030, we emphasized that HIV is a manageable condition and provided support for those affected.
Knitting & Crochet Christmas Closeout Party (December 11, 2024)
We celebrated the bonds and creativity formed throughout the year within our Knitting & Crochet group. This festive gathering honored the friendships and skills developed in our program, with an open invitation for new members to join in 2025.
Hands for Hunger Partnership (December 2024)
In partnership with Hands for Hunger, GBRC distributed 75 food boxes to families from West End to Sweetings Cay, demonstrating the power of collaboration in addressing food insecurity and strengthening community resilience.
Empowering Through Advocacy and Leadership
Vessels of Purpose Elite Mentorship (February 1, 2025)
Dr. Felisha Saunders-McBride shared insights with the mentees of Vessels of Purpose Elite, inspiring the next generation by reflecting on her journey in the counseling profession and emphasizing the importance of mental health advocacy.
Brunch & Bloom: A Morning of Self-Love (February 15, 2025)
A highly successful event focused on self-love and empowerment, featuring engaging discussions led by panelists on self-awareness, self-respect, and personal growth. Hosted by P’Jay Roberts, this event created an uplifting atmosphere for community members to connect and reflect.
Mental Health Awareness at Jack Hayward Senior High (February 21, 2025)
Dr. Saunders-McBride and Jennifer Barnabie engaged with the ancillary staff, providing valuable insights on mental well-being and sharing opportunities for involvement in GBRC programs.
Milestones and Expansions
Grand Opening of the Expanded Grand Bahama Resilience Center (March 1, 2025)
A major milestone for GBRC, this expansion was made possible by generous support from the TX Foundation, Grand Bahama Port Authority, and various corporate sponsors. With performances by Sunland Baptist Academy and Urban Renewal Choir, and contributions from Rotaract and Vessels of Purpose Elite, this event celebrated the collective spirit of our community.
Conclusion This quarter has been a testament to the resilience, generosity, and commitment of our community. Through education, empowerment, and direct support, GBRC continues to make a meaningful impact.
