In the world's youngest country, in the rural and impoverished village of Majak Goi, the community is coming together to fight food insecurity and climate change simultaneously by building a sustainable agricultural resource: a fruit orchard. The entire village will be able to benefit from this orchard, gaining critical micronutrients they have gone without for far too long. Your donation will save lives in South Sudan and help remove carbon dioxide from the air, benefitting our entire planet.
Malnutrition is devastating the people of South Sudan, particularly the rural village of Majak Goi. Students of Deng Maker Primary School, instead of being able to completely focus on their studies, are faced with the physical and mental burdens of lacking macro and micronutrients, leading to developmental problems, frequent sickness, and even death. Their teachers also face these same battles. This project will literally save lives in this village.
The Mawoudit Foundation will build a fruit orchard at the Deng Maker Primary School, filled with indigenous fruit trees like guava and mangos. The entire village will assist in building and maintaining this orchard, with families being able to help grow the solution to their own food insecurity.
This project will feed 500 students and their families in the village, 1000-2000 people total.
