Introduction
With Nepal experiencing harsh winter conditions, many underprivileged families, including the elderly, widows, and children, are at high risk due to the extreme cold. The Surviving Winter Appeal Nepal 2024 was launched to provide life-saving warmth to those in need.
Following the success of the first distribution phase, Al Ehsan Charitable Foundation Nepal conducted a second round of distribution on 30 January 2025 to reach more vulnerable families. This report details the impact and progress of this initiative.
Phase 2: Blanket Distribution Summary
Location: Jalpapur (inaruwa:10, Sunsari Nepal)
Total Beneficiaries: 10 families
Date of Distribution: 30 January 2025
Key Highlights:
The second phase of distribution targeted low-income families, elderly individuals, widows, and children who lacked adequate protection against the cold.
Each family received high-quality, thick blankets to help them withstand the extreme temperatures.
Community members expressed immense gratitude, and many shared how this support has helped them survive the freezing nights.
On-the-Ground ImpactChallenges Faced by Beneficiaries Before the Distribution:
Severe Cold Conditions: Many families were struggling with sub-zero temperatures without adequate winter clothing or bedding.
Health Risks: Increased cases of cold-related illnesses such as pneumonia, respiratory infections, and hypothermia.
Limited Resources: Most families could not afford to buy warm blankets or heating materials.
Positive Changes After the Distribution:
Families now have proper blankets to keep them warm.
Reduced health risks and hospital visits due to cold-related illnesses.
Increased comfort and well-being for elderly individuals and children.
