Dear donor and friend, we found DaVinci wandering aimlessly on a rural road, under a scorching sun, old, tired and dehydrated, invisible to others. What once was a gorgeous white Lab, became an emaciated, exhausted being without any hope for a better life, without future. We were more than ready to change his life for good. Shelter life was a new beginning and he enjoyed it just the way every senior newcomer appreciates being spoiled by extra hugs, secret treats, a cosy bed, the magical soup, the conspiratorial company of the “oldie gang” and the healing sun rays. Shelter life means home and even more today, because DaVinci again finds himself in a helpless and vulnerable situation. Gradually, his mind began to fail, he suffers from canine dementia. Sometimes he doesn´t recognize his mates or his caretakers, barks without reason, forgets how to eat or stumbles around, losing balance. Now it´s when he needs us most, our support, loving attention and understanding. And this is what exactly Safe Haven means: the feeling of security and inconditional love, no matter the circumstances. Thank you so much for supporting our project!!!
