Safe Home and Hope for Orphaned Children Sri Lanka

Dear GlobalGiving Supporters,

HELPING CHILDREN INC sincerely thanks all supporters who have shown interest in our project to establish a safe and nurturing Children’s Home for vulnerable children in Sri Lanka. Although the project is still in its early fundraising phase, we are encouraged by the support and awareness generated so far.

To date, we have received our first donation toward this initiative, and we are actively continuing outreach and fundraising efforts to expand support for the project.

Current Progress

Despite limited funding at this stage, HELPING CHILDREN INC has already begun preliminary planning and coordination activities, including:

• Identifying community needs and vulnerable child protection concerns
• Conducting discussions with local stakeholders and child welfare supporters
• Exploring suitable locations for a child-friendly residential facility
• Developing an operational framework focused on safety, education, nutrition, and emotional well-being
• Building partnerships with local professionals and volunteers who may support the project once operational

Why This Project Matters

Many children in Sri Lanka who lose one or both parents face severe hardship, including homelessness, interrupted education, malnutrition, emotional trauma, and lack of protection. Economic challenges continue to place additional strain on extended families caring for orphaned children.

This project aims to create a stable, family-style environment where vulnerable children can access:

• Safe accommodation
• Nutritious meals
• Education support
• Healthcare services
• Emotional and psychosocial care
• A loving and protective environment

Looking Ahead

Our immediate focus is to continue raising awareness and mobilizing resources needed to secure a suitable facility and begin the first phase of implementation. We are also working to strengthen governance and safeguarding measures to ensure the future Children’s Home operates with transparency, accountability, and child-centered care standards.
