The Safe Housing Support for 200 LGBTQIA+ People project has officially launched with a funding goal of $66,000 dedicated to providing emergency shelter, food assistance, healthcare access, counseling, and reintegration support for vulnerable beneficiaries in Niger State. At this reporting stage, fundraising activities have commenced, with the full amount of $66,000 still outstanding and active donor mobilization underway. Current efforts are focused on securing partnerships with individual donors, philanthropic organizations, and community supporters to ensure immediate financial inflow for project implementation.
Budget planning has been completed to prioritize high-impact expenditures, including safe accommodation leasing, feeding programs, medical support, security measures, psychosocial services, and vocational empowerment activities. Cost-control strategies are also being developed to maximize every contribution received and ensure transparent use of funds.
Operational groundwork is in progress, including identification of secure housing locations, onboarding of service providers, and establishing confidential beneficiary referral systems. Once the first tranche of funds is received, the project will begin phased enrollment of beneficiaries, starting with the most urgent cases of homelessness and violence exposure.
Although donor contributions are yet to be recorded, early awareness efforts have generated interest and visibility around the project’s mission. Continued financial support remains the top priority to move from planning into direct life-saving assistance for the 200 targeted individuals.
