Every night, LGBTQIA+ individuals in Niger State face homelessness, violence, and fear simply for being themselves. This project provides safe, temporary housing and essential support for 200 vulnerable LGBTQIA+ people. By offering secure shelter, food, healthcare, and counseling, we ensure they can rebuild their lives with dignity. This intervention protects lives today and empowers beneficiaries toward a safer, independent future.
LGBTQIA+ people in Niger State experience severe discrimination, harassment, and family rejection. Many are forced onto the streets, facing violence, exploitation, and life-threatening conditions. Existing shelters often refuse them due to stigma, leaving a critical gap in safety and support. Without intervention, homelessness and trauma perpetuate cycles of poverty, abuse, and mental health crises for this marginalized population.
This project will provide temporary, secure housing for 200 LGBTQIA+ individuals, coupled with holistic support services. Beneficiaries will receive food, hygiene supplies, healthcare referrals, and confidential psychosocial counseling. Life-skills training and safety planning will help them transition to independent or safer long-term housing. The program prioritizes dignity, confidentiality, and measurable outcomes to ensure meaningful, sustainable impact.
Safe housing and comprehensive support will reduce homelessness, violence exposure, and mental health risks for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Participants will gain stability, life skills, and confidence to transition into safer living conditions. Over time, this project strengthens community-based protection networks, raises awareness of LGBTQIA+ needs, and fosters a more inclusive environment where vulnerable individuals can live safely and with dignity.
