In Douma, Rural Damascus, hundreds of children are returning after years of war and displacement only to find their schools destroyed and unsafe. This project will rehabilitate one school to meet child-friendly and protective standards while organizing awareness sessions for children and caregivers on the value of education and the dangers of explosive remnants of war. Together these efforts will give 500 children a safe and dignified return to learning.
Returnee children in Douma, Rural Damascus, face severe barriers to education. Years of conflict left schools damaged and unsafe with broken infrastructure and limited access to clean water and healthy classrooms. Families who endured prolonged crises often struggle to see the value of education while explosive remnants of war remain a constant danger, especially along school routes, leaving many children vulnerable and excluded.
