Abortion is not legal in Nigeria. Many young girls with dreams are dying from unsafe methods. This project will provide safe options through confidential care, referrals, and trained health workers. Girls in poor or rural communities will receive care kits, transport support, and trusted guidance. With rising teenage pregnancies and few safe choices, this project will help save lives of 2,500 girls and reduce harm.
Abortion is not legal in Nigeria. Many girls with unplanned pregnancies, some as young as 13, turn to herbalists or untrained people. Some have died from unsafe procedures. Many hide their condition from family due to shame. Without support, some take their own lives. Most cannot afford hospital visits and are too afraid to speak to anyone. The silence, fear, and lack of care are costing lives.
This project will provide care kits, referrals, and phone support for girls who are pregnant and afraid. Trained female volunteers will offer weekly small group sessions on safe sex and reproductive health, and connect girls to trusted care providers. A confidential helpline will support those outside our contact points. Travel to clinics will be supported when needed. All services are private and focused on reducing harm.
This project will help reduce unsafe practices by giving 2,500 girls access to safe care and trusted guidance. Trained volunteers and the helpline will remain active in the community beyond the project period. As more girls know where to turn, fewer will suffer in silence or seek unsafe help. The project will help more girls stay alive, return to school, and make informed choices about their future.
