Support Safe Care for Pregnant Teens

By Joy O. Etubi | Project Leader

Dear donors,

Thank you for your support and interest in helping young girls facing unplanned teenage pregnancies. Your willingness to stand with us in this work means a great deal. We appreciate every effort made to share this project, raise awareness, and contribute. Even though the donations received so far are not enough to begin implementation, your support reminds us that people care about the lives of vulnerable girls who often have no one to turn to.

The challenge facing teenage girls in Nigeria is severe. Because abortion is not legal, many girls resort to unsafe and dangerous methods. Some are as young as 13. Many hide their situation from family out of fear or shame. Without trusted guidance, they fall into the hands of untrained people or take harmful substances, leading to severe complications and sometimes death. Some girls become depressed and consider ending their own lives. Poverty makes it worse, as most of them cannot afford proper medical care. The silence around the issue creates deeper harm. These girls are scared, alone, and at great risk.

This project aims to give them safe options. Our plan includes providing confidential referrals, care kits, and trusted support through trained female volunteers. We will run small group sessions where girls can learn about reproductive health in a safe and private environment. A confidential helpline will reach those who cannot attend in person and connect them to care providers who are trained to offer safe, supportive services. Transport support will be given to girls who need help reaching clinics. All of this is designed to reduce harm, protect their dignity, and save lives.

However, we want to be open with you. The funds received so far are not enough to begin these activities. We still need support to secure care kits, train volunteers, manage the helpline, and provide transport assistance. Without these resources, we cannot start delivering the services that are urgently needed.

We remain committed to reaching 2,500 girls with safe, private, and life-saving support. Your continued effort, whether through giving or sharing the project page, brings us closer to making this possible.

With appreciation,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
