Safe Play Space for all-round development of girls

We are delighted to update our esteemed donors on the remarkable progress made by iPartner India's initiative to create safe play spaces for the all-around development of girls in Indian schools. As a leading non-profit organisation, iPartner India remains committed to empowering girls and nurturing their growth in secure environments. 

Safe play spaces in schools hold tremendous importance in facilitating the holistic development of children, particularly girls, in the Indian context. These spaces provide a platform for girls to explore their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social capabilities in a secure and supportive setting. 

Through your support, we have witnessed a significant increase in enrollment rates among girls, indicating the recognition of the value these spaces bring to promoting education and overall development.

Thanks to your unwavering support, iPartner India has made notable progress in creating safe play spaces for girls in Indian schools. According to our recent finding from village Hathki, the following developments have occurred:

Upper Primary School Swing: In March 2023, we successfully installed a swing in the Upper Primary School, contributing to the overall play infrastructure and providing girls with an exciting and secure recreational activity.

Primary School Swing and Slide: During the same period, we introduced a swing and a slide in the Primary School, further enhancing the play options available to students. These additions have stimulated creativity, promoted social interaction, and fostered a sense of enjoyment and well-being among the girls.

Increased Attraction and Confidence: Providing safe play spaces has significantly impacted the students' perception of school, with students now more attracted to the safe and engaging environment. As a result, we have observed a notable increase in their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.

Anticipated Growth in Enrollment: With the introduction of safe play spaces, enrollment has increased by 40-50%, and we expect a further increase in enrollment, ensuring more girls have access to education and holistic development opportunities. These spaces catalyze, inspiring parents to prioritize their daughters' education and well-being.

Your visionary support has allowed us to make significant progress in creating safe play spaces and fostering the holistic development and empowerment of girls in Indian schools. However, our journey is far from complete.

With 3 safe play spaces developed so far, our campaign target is to create at least ten safe play spaces, for which we need your continued support to reach our goal. Dear Global Givers,

iPartner India’s ‘Safe Play Space for all-round development of girls’ campaign is aimed to encourage children, especially for girls to feel motivated to attend school and also be able to play in a safe environment for holistic development. Many schools in poor rural parts of India lack playgrounds. During our interactions with children who are members of Children’s Parliament (Bal Panchayat), an iPartner India initiative, the children raised their concerns about the need for Safe Play Spaces in their schools.

Through this campaign, iPartner India is also engaging with the local community by training the youth to install the play stations. This gives them a sense of ownership and also the responsibility to be able to provide a space for children in their community. Most of the play stations are created using recycled materials. By providing safe and accessible play spaces, children will be able to play, interact with others and develop their knowledge in a stimulating environment. The Safe Play Spaces are designed to ensure that younger children (boys and girls) are motivated to come to school, and it also motivates others within the peer group to enrol.

Studies show that young children need at least 30 to 60 minutes of outdoor play every day. As per a government of India survey, 40 percent of schools in India do not have a playground. With unequal access to play spaces in most rural schools, many children, particularly vulnerable girls, lack access to safe public playgrounds. This campaign will highlight the need to create more Safe Play Spaces.

We are happy to report that through funds raised, both online and offline, we have completed the construction of two Safe Play Spaces in the Sotwada and Kalyanpura villages of Rajasthan. Recently our team on the ground has also identified another location at a school in Hathki village, where during the next quarter we aim to complete another Safe Play Space.

The new academic session in India will begin on April 01, 2023. These new Safe Play Spaces will be a highlight for the parents seeking admission for their children. We are hopeful that child enrolment in these schools will now increase in comparison to previous academic years.
