In Ghana, many pregnant women especially in rural and low-income communities still face serious risks during pregnancy and childbirth due to limited access to quality maternal healthcare. This project supports expectant mothers with antenatal care, safe delivery services, and emergency obstetric assistance to protect the lives of both mothers and babies.
Although Ghana has made progress in maternal health, complications such as severe bleeding, high blood pressure, infections, and obstructed labor remain major causes of maternal and newborn deaths. Financial barriers, distance to health facilities, and shortages of skilled care prevent many women from receiving timely and adequate treatment.
Safe Pregnancy & Delivery Assistance in Ghana will remove financial and access barriers by covering antenatal visits, skilled delivery services, emergency obstetric care, medications, and referrals. The project will work in partnership with local hospitals, health centers, and midwives to ensure timely and respectful maternal care.
This project will contribute to safer motherhood in Ghana by encouraging early antenatal attendance, skilled delivery, and timely emergency care. Over time, it will help reduce maternal mortality, improve newborn health, and strengthen trust in local health systems.
