Dear respected donors,
Thank you for your early support for this project providing safe shelter and emergency care for LGBTQI+ individuals facing violence in Nigeria. The funds received so far are appreciated, though still not enough to begin full shelter operations. Your contribution highlights a crisis that continues to place many lives in danger every day.
Across the country, LGBTQI+ individuals face mob attacks, family rejection, police harassment, and targeted killings. Many are thrown out of their homes, denied medical attention, and forced into hiding without food, shelter, or basic safety. Survivors often arrive with untreated trauma, injuries from violent attacks, and urgent health needs, including HIV treatment that many hospitals refuse to provide because of discrimination. Without a safe place to go, they face ongoing threats and no clear path to protection or recovery.
This project is designed to address these urgent dangers. Once adequately funded, it will provide secure housing where individuals can escape mob violence, homelessness, and abuse. Medical care, including HIV treatment and trauma support, will be available to those who have been denied healthcare. Counseling services will help survivors overcome fear, manage trauma, and begin rebuilding their lives. Legal aid will support those pursuing asylum, relocation, or protection from continued persecution, while trained staff will help them transition into safer environments.
The long-term impact of this support is significant. Safe shelter and healthcare break the cycle of fear, trauma, and harm. Survivors can rebuild their confidence and regain control of their lives. Legal support will create pathways to safety in areas where their rights can be protected. Over time, each success story strengthens advocacy efforts and increases awareness, contributing to a future where LGBTQI+ individuals can live without fear.
Thank you for standing with those who urgently need safety and protection.
