Hello friends and donors,
Darfur Women Network (DWN) thanks you and appreciates your generous support and commitment to helping survivors of genocide in Darfur.
With your support and donations, we are able to provide refugee families with safe stoves to protect them from rape, hostile attacks, intensive smoke produces during cooking process, and the risk of their houses burning down. We were able to provide over a thousand safe stoves to refugee families in the camp.
Trips to collect firewood were reduced by 75% , the density of smoke during cooking process was also reduced., and it economically empowered women who make safe stoves in the camp. Darfur refugees are in need of your help and contribution will make an impact on Darfur refugees in the Touloum camp in Chad to survive the COVID 19 outbreak. Moreover, the refugee women have stopped making stoves during rainy season, however, by the end of October the rain will stop. Now, the refugees in needs to your support to enable them to survive the COVID 19.
DWN grateful for its partnership with GlobalGiving. We faced financial challenges to help our refugees to survive COVID-19 since the breakout of the virus. GlobalGiving provided DWN with grant to enable it to help the refugees to survive COVID 19. We are working on making water and soap available to our beneficiaries to insure their safety against COVID19.
We shared with you on our report on June 25, 2020 that due to our financial challenges, we were unable to provide goods to the survivors of genocide in the camps despite dire needs for food, sanitation, and water. Now, we are able to provide hygiene items, but we need your support to provide more water.
Eventually, we will not be able to provide food and the personal protection equipment (PPEs). Your endless support and donations will help us to meet an urgent need of soap and water to enable the refugees to survive to stay sanitize during the pandemic.
Through our strong ties with refugee camps, Darfur Women Network (DWN) is engaged in community outreach to raise awareness to reduce the plight of COVID-19.
