Together, We Reached Every Refugee Mother-Thank U

By Mastora Bakhiet | Executive Director

Dear GlobalGiving Team, Donors, Volunteers, and Supporters,

With full hearts and profound gratitude, we are honored to share a historic milestone: the successful completion of our Safe Stoves Project, which you helped bring to life.

Because of your unwavering compassion and support through GlobalGiving, 3,840 safe stoves were produced in 2024 by refugee women in Chad. In our final phase, an additional 600 stoves were made and distributed—ensuring that today, every refugee mother in the camp now has a safe stove.

This accomplishment is more than a number. It represents dignity, safety, resilience, and hope. Through the Safe Stoves Project, women not only protected their families—they transformed their lives.

These stoves:

  • Reduced the need for firewood by 75%
  • Lowered indoor smoke and improved respiratory health
  • Protected women and girls from rape and violent attacks during firewood collection
  • Kept families warm during harsh winters
  • Created steady income, especially during the non-farming rainy season

As a result, women earned their own income, organized into decision-making teams, gained respect as leaders, and changed the perception of women in their community.

One of our participants, Fatima, shared:

“These stoves changed our lives. The income helped us buy food, clothes, and school supplies. We feel proud and hopeful.”

Your support didn’t just fund a project—it protected 7,000 families, empowered women economically, and sparked a movement where refugee women now stand as leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

What’s Next? Hope Must Continue

Even as we close this chapter with gratitude, the suffering in Darfur has not ended. Violence in El Fasher and North Darfur is forcing families to flee again—many on foot, carrying their children, searching for safety.

Our mission continues, and we humbly ask you to stand with us again.

1. Disaster Response: Relief, Recovery & Resiliency
Providing hot meals, clean water, transportation for the elderly and wounded, and recovery support for families fleeing El Fasher.

2. Children’s Rights, Protection & Empowerment

With Deepest Appreciation

To every donor, volunteer, and supporter: thank you for your compassion, your trust, and your belief in refugee women. Because of you:

  • Mothers and daughters are safer
  • Women are economically empowered
  • A community has hope again

Your solidarity has healed trauma, saved lives, and allowed women to rise.

Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for believing in them. Together, we will continue to protect, uplift, and empower the survivors of genocide and displacement.

With heartfelt gratitude and respect,
Mastora Bakhiet
