Dear our Donaors and our Supporters,
Greetings,
There truly is strength in your support and in your generous donations, with all of your generous donations and unwavering support, we have further energized our Safe Stoves Project! We have already decreased the risk of rape, hostile attacks against women, improved the environment in refugees’ homes by decreasing harmful smoke that’s produced during the cooking process because our stoves use 75% less wood than a traditional stove. I believe that this project has positive impact on the lives of survivors of the genocide in Darfur.
The Darfur Women Network has a plan to purchase 200 safe stoves from our production group to distribute them to refugees’ mothers.
Unfortunately, the production team leader and her team in Darfur refugees’ camp have lost their refugees status. Their refugee cards expired and they couldn’t renew them. They are waiting for the United Nations team to visit Chad to renew their cards.
They became ineligible to receive food for themselves and their children despite, they have no regular jobs to earn steady income to survive.
Some of our supporters may ask that why we don’t train more women to make safe stoves. The renewal cards team promised to visit the camp, but they have not come, yet.
The team left during rainy season, when they couldn’t make safe stoves production due to climate.
Also, culturally, there are special sub-tribe who are the only group can make safe stoves.
Eventually, we are ready to resume the production as soon as the arrival of our team to the refugees’ camps,
Please, share our report with your network. If you have any suggestion or/and feedback, please let us know, we are listening.
