Dear family of Darfur Women Network,
On behalf of the Darfur Women Network (DWN), we would like to wish you happy holidays!
We hope that you and your loved ones are enjoying your celebration and staying warm. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your passion, commitment, and generous support. Without your support, it would be impossible to accomplish our goals.
During 2022, DWN has brought new opportunities for DWN to continue its efforts to increase activities to achieve our vision and goals. We are pleased to share with you a brief highlight of all we were able to accomplish this year thanks to your support.
Your contributions have allowed us to distribute 680 water containers to refugees from Darfur in refugee camps in Chad, provide over 1200 safe stoves to 1200 refugee families, provide solar lights for 12 educational centers in the camp, and help refugees with access to clean drinking water.
We have provided economic empowerment project for women from displaced, vulnerable, and poor families in South Darfur, Sudan. We trained over 100 displaced women on knowledge, technical skills, teamwork, and entrepreneurial skills to enable them to make soap to earn a steady income to improve the livelihood of their families.
Now, rainfall has stopped. The harvest is about to be finished in two weeks. The safe stove production group will resume producing stoves soon. Three of the group’s leaders couldn’t renew their refugee cards. They had to move to the nearest village, but the rest of the group will make safe stoves and will sell them to Darfur Women Network to distribute them to refugee mothers without cost.
Our plan for 2023, is to provide 1000 safe stoves to refugees from Darfur in refugees’ camp in Chad. We appeal to you to stand with refugee mothers to rescue them from rape, hostile attacks, and intensive smoke during g cooking process. As well as advance our empower economic empowerment program to amplify self-sufficiency for the refugees in Chad.
