Every click online can bring opportunity or danger. Across India, women and children face rising cyberbullying, sexual exploitation, stalking and scams. Responsible Netism, a programme by Ahaan Foundation, trains local youth leaders through Building Digital Rakshak (Translates as Cyber Protectors) to act as first responders, educate communities, raise awareness about online safety, and protect over 50,000 people across multiple regions from digital harm and exploitation.
Women and children across India face rising cyberbullying, sexual exploitation, stalking, and online scams. Many lack digital literacy or awareness of reporting mechanisms. Rural and tribal communities are particularly vulnerable, while families and organisations often do not know how to respond. Without trained local responders, victims suffer in silence, risking mental health, social isolation, and even trafficking.
Building Digital Rakshak trains local leaders and youth to act as first responders to online harm. Participants learn to identify cyberbullying, exploitation, and scams, support victims, educate communities, and implement safeguarding systems. Already reaching 1.8 million people, the programme aims to protect over 50,000 women and children annually across India.
Trained Digital Rakshaks will report and handle cases of cyber harm, educate communities, and implement safeguarding systems. With 450 Rakshaks already addressing 3,500 cases, scaling the programme will protect 50,000 women and children annually, increase reporting, prevent online abuse, and build resilient, digitally safe communities across India.
