Challenge

Disadvantaged youth coming from poverty, do not have the support they need and face many educational barriers, so they are at a higher risk of dropping out of school to either join the labor force or become street children in big cities.

Solution

Saigonchildren was founded in 1992 to help disadvantaged children get an education and a fairer start in life. Saigonchildren works exclusively across the whole of Vietnam to overcome barriers to education for children, including poverty, geography, knowledge and disability.

Long-Term Impact

Saigonchildren builds schools in disadvantaged areas, often serving ethnic minority communities where existing facilites have become unsafe or unsuitable, and in areas where children must travel a long distance to school. In addition to building safe, secure and beautiful schools, we provide hygienic toilet and wash facilities, playgrounds, libraries, and specialist classrooms. These projects and our strong community network will raise awareness and understanding surrounding a range of issues.
