Happy Easter Everyone

Our students are currently on a short break for the Easter vacation. Prior to the Easter holiday, some of our students had the opportunity to go on an excursion to Ecowatt Nigeria situated in Ikeja, Lagos state.

Ecowatt Nigeria Ltd. is a solution provider for sustainable development. Their focus is on affordable and clean energy development, environmental management and climate change action. Ecowatt Nigeria Ltd. combines the expertise of energy consultants, environmental managers, policy makers, industry leaders and academia to innovate and solve Nigeria's most daring energy challenges.

The purpose of the excursion was to educate our students on how to maintain sustainable clean energy power supply in areas with challenges on government electricity supply.  In recent times, there has been issues with stable power supply in Nigeria and many people haven't been able to enjoy stable electricity.

Our students listened to presentations that highlighted issues with power supply which has negatively impacted many businesses with some of them having to shut down their businesses. Ecowatt Nigeria shared the solution to these problems to be the use of solar energy as an alternative to government electricity supply to businesses that solely depend on energy.

During the excursion; our students were educated on power connection, solar energy, electrical auditing, flow of energy supply and laboratory works. The students were also trained on some electricity gadgets / testing equipment & audits like photovoltaic, voltmeter,  flow meter, visual thermometer etc.

This excursion was really an opportunity for exposure for our students about the power supply problems and the reasons why they exist. In addition, students were educated on the career opportunities that exist and the importance of creating clean energy and the impact on climate change.

By the end of our visit to Ecowatt Nigeria, some of our students already expressed interest in careers in Engineering, Laboratory science, Clean Energy and Practical industrial environment.

This was a really educational and informative excursion and visit to Ecowatt Nigeria. We would like to express our immense gratitude to Ecowatt Nigeria for this wonderful opportunity. Our students and teachers were really happy and returned to school with so much information to share with the other students.

Thank you to everyone who made this excursion possible.

We thank you for all your continued support of the Shining Light School.

Thank you!
