Hello everyone!
The end of the school year is a busy time for any school, and it was no different for The Shining Light School!
In late May some of the older children were able to attend the Indomie Childern's Day Celebration. Here in Nigeria, Children's Day is a major holiday celebrated by many and we are so thrilled that some of the children took part and enjoyed a day that is all about them!
In early June there was a midterm-break and our hard-working teachers took a day during that break to attend a teacher development session. The Shining Light Staff and our curriculm volunteer went to a day training at The GreenSprings Training College. The program covered different areas of teaching, but mostly focused on classroom management and curriculm delivery. The teachers and our volunteer were so delighted with the training that we decided to continue with follow-up sessions throughout the next school year.
Finally, in the middle of July, our students celebrated all of their hard work with the annual end of year party. Students and teachers look forward to this celebration and this year was just as fun! Several classes performed dances, and we had 4 students graduate. Some of the volunteers were able to attend and celebrate with the school.
The students are out for the summer break and will be back to start a new school year in September!
