The last few months have been a busy time at Salem Social Village. On the education and training side, we've been learning to think critically, sharing our experience of social entrepreneurship, and teaching young people about journalism and media issues. Meanwhile on the social action and humanitarian assistance side, we've been providing families in difficulties with much needed school supplies, getting much needed items to a young mother in dire straights, and helping more struggling families with clothes and other items for winter. There's been a lot of changemaking going on.
But the one story that really got our attention was a new fusing of these two aspects of our work, and something we didn't plan or expect. When two local businessmen began to realise, through studying English at Salem, that they could take action to do something to help those in need, it was an exciting step forward. This was evidence that we are indeed inspiring the growth of Global Citizens - those whose eyes are open to the needs around them, and who have the desire and opportunity to take action.
As we look forward, we are committed to continue providing high quality education and training, and to continue helping those in need through social action. But our real passion is finding that crossover, those moments when more Global Citizens are inspired to grow here, those who begin to understand and act in a new way.
Thank you for your support for Salem during this year! It's only as a team together that we can continue to Inspire the Growth of Kazakhstan's Global Citizens into the future.
Wishing you a peaceful festive season and a very happy New Year!
From everyone at Salem Social Village
