The project is to touch lives of youths in Central Uganda (Buganda) region by fighting Hepatitis B through screening, immunization,and sensitization of youths about the dangers of Hepatitis B and it's prevention which is rising highly among the youths due to the lifestyles which expose them to means of acquiring the disease.
HEPATITIS B. The viral infection that attacks the liver and cause both acute and chronic type of hepatitis. Uganda is one of the highly endemic countries for Hepatitis B, With 52% life time exposure of the population, While 9 out of every 10 people in Uganda do not know their status. According to the 2016 Uganda Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (UPHIA) Survey the prevalence is as follows. In Ugandans. 4.3% in Adults. 5.6% in men. 3.1% in women. It's 2.7% in Central region.
-HELP(A)LTD will touch 100,000 youths, saving 1.05% of the population from HEPATITIS B in central region which is made of 9,529,227 people hence reducing the number of 90% (8,576,304) who don't know their status to 7,718,673.6 when fully accomplished. -This also will help to avail the already infected people (2.7%) to better medical services accompanied by skilled human personnel and quality drugs through referrals from the outreaches carried out by this project -Since it doesn't cure.
-The project will bring in better living standards among the youth, transforming the economy since incomes will be spent on the betterment of people's lives but not treatment of the Hepatitis B disease and also bringing in productivity among the youth hence happy and longer life expectancy.
