Omicron: the new variant that makes life difficult

By Fara Ndiaye | Executive director

No sooner had we come out of the havoc that the delta variant has wreaked across the country and around the world, now comes the Omicron variant that keeps people awake.

At our level, within the framework of this project which aims to support street children, who are more vulnerable in this period of pandemic, the time is not for discouragement. We continue to support children with food, hygiene kits, and awareness thanks to donations from the fantastic GlobalGiving community, but also thanks to local partners who support us to achieve the objectives of this project.
Currently, we want to support the sensitization of children and adolescents for vaccination because the State of Senegal is soon planning to integrate the vaccination of children from the age of 5 into its program to fight against covid-19.

Since the launch of this project, more than 400 street children have been supported and the continuing pandemic situation means that the end of the tunnel is far from being seen. In addition to that, according to our surveys, nearly 700 children leave their families or come from family breakdown to settle in the street every six months. This situation further complicates the situation of children in permanent connection with the street in this pandemic situation which is still so complicated.

We once again appeal to the fantastic GlobalGiving community to support us in helping these hundreds of troubled street-connected children during this pandemic period.
