This project aims to improve Child Health and reduce childhood sickness and Deaths; 500 parents in Makeni City will get new ideas on how to protect their children from Health issues and death, gain practical skills on child Health improvement through workshops, media campaign and community sensitization.
Infant and early childhood (1-4 years) sicknesses and deaths is becoming rampant in Sierra Leone. According to the Ministry of Health The leading causes of infant mortality are tetanus, fevers. A breakdown of certified deaths in infancy showed that tetanus is quite important in the neonatal period accounting for as much as 68% of neonatal deaths. this can be largely diminished by effective intervention of Educational programs, sensitizing 500 parents on health care.
The provision of Educational programmes such as oral re-hydration therapy, the Education/sensitization of Traditional Birth Attendants, as well as parents on health care practices.
