Save 200 Children From Sex Trafficking in Delhi

Suchi’s mother was trafficked from Bengal to Delhi’s GB Road—the red-light district—after being deceived with a false promise of employment and was forced into sex work. As a little girl, Suchi grew up surrounded by fear, stigma, and separation, often wondering why her life felt so different from the world around her.

She was enrolled in the SPID-SMS Centre at the age of six. Her life took a pivotal turn when the Centre intervened to protect her from an early marriage proposal to a pimp’s son (known to her mother). With consistent emotional, educational, and hostel support, Suchi slowly rebuilt her confidence. Learning the truth about her mother’s circumstances was heartbreaking, but with SPID’s care and guidance, she began to believe that her life could take a new direction.

Determined to be independent, Suchi pursued nursing. Today, at 26, she is a staff nurse at a reputed hospital—financially independent, courageous, and living with dignity. Though her past still carries pain, she honours her mother’s immense sacrifice in keeping her away from the brothel environment. Her journey is a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the transformative impact of education and sustained support.

Suchi is now a role model for many other girls who still feel their destinies are controlled by the men around them. Girls like Suchi break that wall of fear—and they are able to do so because of the unwavering support of donors like you.

More than 300 children are currently enrolled with SPID and receiving regular schooling and remedial support. Over 150 women have been supported with housing, education, vocational training, and life skills.
This Children’s Day, the children at the SPID shelter home showcased their wonderful talents in singing, painting, stitching, and other creative activities. Several children also won prizes in school painting competitions.

SPID also organised a parents’ meeting to update mothers on their children’s progress—an empowering gathering where mothers expressed confidence in the nurturing environment their children receive.

There is so much potential within every child—potential that becomes visible only when they have safety, time, and opportunities. Because of your consistent and generous support, these children can dream bigger, grow with dignity, and make informed choices about their futures.

Nidhi’s Journey to a Safer, Brighter Future (name changed)

At just 16, Nidhi was living at the New Delhi Railway Station with her parents, who were beggars. Realising the dangers of sexual exploitation and trafficking for sex work, her parents placed her in a shelter home. She soon adapted, made friends, and began learning about safety, the value of education, and even took up Taekwondo classes during the COVID-19 lockdown.

In April 2023, Nidhi joined SPID (Society for Participatory and Integrated Development) Kishori Home (Adolescent's home), where she learned tailoring, received a healthy diet, and pursued her studies. Later, her mother revealed that Nidhi’s father was abusive, and requested that she continue staying at the Home for her safety.

Today, Nidhi is in the 9th grade, a top student, and dreams of becoming a lawyer. She is confident, independent, and actively helps others at SPID organisation.

This is just one story — and thanks to your support, there are many “Nidhis” who are rewriting their futures.

To nurture the children’s creativity, Kishori Home organizes art and drawing competitions, where they work in groups, learning teamwork and collaboration. Alongside art, the children are developing digital literacy and vocational skills, empowering them with the knowledge and tools to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

The children also had the opportunity to visit the Science Museum, where they explored scientific methods from ancient, medieval, and modern times. Such experiences expand their horizons, helping them understand the world better and prepare for the next phases of life.
