Dear Global Givers,
In recent times, many sex workers from other cities have been migrating to Delhi or returning to the places where they were once sold, seeking better income opportunities. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in combating child trafficking and rehabilitating vulnerable children in Delhi. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for standing with us in this mission.
Thanks to your generosity, our shelter home currently supports more than 100 children of sex workers who are at high risk of trafficking. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to provide these children with a safe, nurturing environment where they can reclaim their rights and live with dignity.
To foster creativity and physical well-being, we organized a dance class that helped the children express their emotions through movement. In January, a comprehensive health camp was conducted, benefiting 105 children by assessing and addressing their essential health needs.
Recognizing the critical need for awareness on personal safety, we held a session on safe and unsafe touch. This session empowered children with the knowledge to recognize personal boundaries, speak up, and seek help when needed.
Being away from their families often causes anxiety and emotional distress for the children. To help them cope, we arranged various activities, including a joyful Holi celebration with their peers. A Parent-Child gathering at the shelter home created a heartwarming space for children to reconnect with their families and share their experiences. Additionally, exposure visits to historical places and monuments offered them a refreshing break and valuable learning experiences.
On March 30th, with support from another NGO, a group of girls from a shelter home, accompanied by our team and with permission from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), participated in a special workshop. Led by another NGO team, the session provided valuable insights and guidance, contributing to their overall personality development. These initiatives are already reflecting in their academic progress and personal growth.
None of this would be possible without your steadfast support. Each child here has a story of resilience and determination, and we would like to share one such inspiring journey—Shabrun’s (name changed).
Born in a village in Maharashtra, Shabrun faced immense hardships after losing her father at a young age. Her mother, struggling to raise three children through farming, was deceived by false promises of work in Delhi and trafficked into sex work. Left in the care of a pimp, young Shabrun was later admitted to our shelter home.
Initially shy and speaking only Marathi, she slowly adapted to her new environment with the support of educators and social workers. Despite losing a year of schooling due to family pressure, she persevered and excelled academically and in extracurricular activities. Now in 12th grade, she is taking paramedical classes and dreams of becoming a police officer.
Despite pressure from her conservative family to marry young, Shabrun has grown into a confident, self-aware, and determined young woman. She now mentors younger girls, proving that change is possible. With continued support, she is on her way to breaking the cycle of exploitation and building a better future for herself and her family.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, on behalf of every child striving for a brighter tomorrow.
With deepest gratitude,
Team iPartner India
