Challenge

According to UNICEF Nigeria has the third highest number of child brides (3,538,000) In Niger Sate, among the Kambari people, 8 out of 10 girls are likely to be married before their17th birthday without education or any concrete means of livelihood. As a result, they give birth and raise their children in very difficult situations. This has led to increase in illiteracy, poverty, malnutrition, health complications, infant mortality rate etc. This project will give 200 girls a better future.

Solution

This project empowers the girl child through literacy support and skill acquisition. It also creates awareness among the parents of these girls and their communities about the negative effects of child marriage. For this the girls will be empowered with knowledge and skills to be able to liberate themselves from a subhuman living condition to a better human condition of existence.

Long-Term Impact

The project will enlightened 20 communities to know the negative effects of child marriage and will empower 200 girls which will bring increased respect for rural girls and women in the project area, reduced poverty among rural women in the project area and increased collaboration among women for Financial and social liberation .
