At her 8 months, Avril was diagnosed with ocular grade D cancer, a very advanced malignant tumor that compromised her left eye, and she also had a retinal detachment that caused the loss of vision in her eye.
Carolina, her mother, says: "It's a very hard situation, but God sent me little angels on the path that taught me to be strong"; Avril resident of Medellín Antioquia, is fortunate to have the love and care of Maria Belén, her older sister.
Now the perspective is positive, thanks to the donations received to strengthen the retinoblastoma program, the medical team of San Vicente Foundation’s Children's Hospital inactivated the Avril tumor, which means that she will no longer have chemotherapy and will only attend medical check-ups each month.
