Helping children get a education
![Children Quarterly Assessments]()
Children Quarterly Assessments
Our mission is to provide an all-round education for the children, including academics as well as extra-curricular activities.
Members of Ashwini Charitable Trust (ACT) visit the school regularly and interact with the Headmistress, teachers and children. We provide a healthy protein mix and biscuits as supplementary food for the students six days a week. While interacting with the students we realised that most of them were not eating breakfast at home, so we decided to provide protein mix and biscuits to the students every day in the morning.
ACT has been providing van service for bringing 30 children from nearby slums.
Volunteering Activities:
- ACT has been organizing volunteering activities on all the weekdays. Our volunteers teach the students English throughout the week. ACT Operation Coordinator teaches basic English to classes 1 and 2 using a tablet and Math by using the Building Blocks app for classes 1 to 5. It has been observed that the students enjoy these classes immensely.
- ACT organises yoga classes in the school every Saturday with the help of volunteers.
- Every month, ACT celebrates the birthdays of the school children, who have their birthdays in that month. We invite them to cut a cake, sponsored by ACT. We also invite the parents to be a part of this birthday celebration. The cake and chips are distributed among children, school staff and guardians who are present during the celebration.
- SaPa in Schools was founded by musicians Bindu and Ambi Subramaniam. The mission of SaPa in Schools is to create an ecosystem for Music Education in India, and to teach art not only for arts’ sake, but also promotes a larger vision around how Indian and global music can be used to spread global cultural awareness, peace and tolerance, and promote sustainable living. Since 2014, SaPa in Schools has been providing high quality Indian andglobal music education, as an integral part of school curriculum. The strength of the program is age appropriate teaching methodologies, which include activities, books, audio and video material, student assessment and teacher training. We have twenty students from class 1 to class 5, every Wednesday attending these classes.
- ACT organized the quarterly basic academic assessment which involved assessing the children for their knowledge of English both spoken and written.
Diwali, the festival of lights was celebrated with joy and with the distribution of sweets to the children and staff members of the school.
