A huge Humanitarian Crisis due to Covid 19 pandemic and Lockdown situation in Bangalore .
Most of the parents of our sponsored children work as Drivers, Decorators, Tailors, , Vendors, Carpenters, Painters basically daily wage labourers. Some of their mothers are homemakers and majority of the mothers work as housemaids. Due to the Lockdown situation, these underprivileged families lost their daily source of income.
In the initial weeks of Lockdown after the 25th of march , Ashwini Charitable Trust raised funds through Social Media, Friends, Family and well-wishers and decided to provide ration kits to all the children every week till the lockdown is lifted and they can go back to their jobs.
Th e provisions given were Rice – 2kgs, Dal – 1 kg, Sooji – 1 kg ,Oil – 1 litre ,Sugar – 1 kg
The Volunteers who were the senior adult children felt a sense of happiness and deep sense of gratitude when they distributed these kits to the other children and families .The families were deeply grateful and expressed their thanks and said God has sent these children to give the kits during this situation. Most of them were overwhelmed with the kits as they have two to three children . They can stock it for weeks to feed the children three meals during these difficult times. All the families thanked the trust for providing timely help.
