Summary

This project provides emergency medical care, food, and clean water to displaced children and mothers suffering from malaria and malnutrition in Katashola Camp, Kalehe (DRC), a region under M23 control. Over 200 children have already died. We deliver aid via Lake Kivu, the only access route. Immediate help is needed to prevent more deaths.

Challenge

In Katashola Camp (Kalehe, DRC), over 200 children under five have died due to malaria and severe malnutrition in just two months. The camp is isolated, controlled by armed groups, and lacks food, clean water, and healthcare. Ongoing violence and flooding have worsened conditions, making humanitarian access nearly impossible.

Solution

We will transport emergency medical supplies, food, and water via Lake Kivu to reach Katashola. This includes malaria treatment, ready-to-use therapeutic food, water purification kits, and mobile health teams. Our goal is to save lives, stabilize children's health, and prevent future deaths through sustained care and rapid response.

Long-Term Impact

By improving child nutrition and providing ongoing malaria treatment, this project will reduce under-five mortality in the region. Long-term, it aims to create access to essential healthcare and clean water for displaced families, building community resilience and reducing the devastating impact of future crises in Kalehe.
